Membership of the Institute of Refrigeration
Membership of the IOR Become part of a network of refrigeration professionals and benefit from free technical downloads, invitiations to meetings, news updates and discounts on publications.
Grades of membershp for UK and International members Affiliate Membership is open to any individual in the UK or overseas with a professional interest in refrigeration and air conditioning. Annual subscription fees are £67* plus a £20 joining fee. There are no criteria for membership but you will not be able to use the designatory initials MInstR after your name or take part in IOR Council elections. Full individual Membership, Associate Membership or Technician Membership provides recognition of your expertise and level of responsibility in refrigeration and air conditioning practice. Members of the IOR have the right to use the initials TMInstR, MInstR or AMInstR after their name. Applications are considered individually from UK or overseas residents based on experience and qualfications by an independent Membership Committee. Annual Membership costs between £49* and £72* depending on the grade allocated and a £20 joining fee is charged in the first year. You can send in your application using one of the methods below. Student Membership is available to those on nationally recognised courses or undertaking student research projects. Student membership is free for the first year with a reduced rate of £28* per year thereafter.
Technicians can join the IOR and use the initials TMInstR after their name provided they have a minimum of three years experience in a relevant role and hold a recognised F Gas Qualification. Techncian members gain the benefits of both IOR and Service Engineers' Section membership with additional printed bulletins for the hands-on engineer.
Specialist Sections The Service Engineers Section The SES is an affiliated interest group of the IOR. Subscribers to the Section are not members of the Institute but they do receive special quarterly mailings with practical technical information and advice for an annual fee of £30* (UK members) or £35 for overseas members. To findout more about the SES please follow this link. The Air Conditioning and Heat Pump Institute. ACHPI is an affiliated group of the IOR launched in 2009 for those involved in air conditioning and heat pump installation. Subscribers receive special quarterly mailings with practical technical information and guidance. A membership fee of £30* is payable. To find out more about the ACHPI please follow this link. * Subscrption years run from beginning of April to end of March each year. Those joining part way through a year pay the full fee and are entitled to download past bulletins and material. Fees are reviewed annually on 1st April.
