| The Institute is offering awards
to students and their schools for work based on the future of refrigeration. In
Fantastic Fridges, we have looked at some examples of developments that have taken place
during the past 100 years, and the contribution that refrigeration has made to our daily
lives. Looking
forward to the future, what do you think our world will be like in a 100 years - and what
role will refrigeration have played in the developments that take place in industry, world
trade and society?
Entries should be
accompanied by illustrations or creative artwork.
Prizes include a cash award
of £100 for the individual winning entry or a prize of £500 for their school. To

How might refrigeration help to feed the world in the future?
If the UK continues to increase the amount of chilled or frozen food it imports, how will
this effect our economy?
What kind of diet do you think we might have in the future, and what role will
refrigeration play in this?
What foods do you think we might find in the supermarket of the future, and how will they
be stored?
What future uses of refrigeration can you imagine which would change our lives?
What alternatives to refrigeration can you imagine that might replace it in the future?
How can we keep the benefits of refrigeration but make sure we don't damage the
environment?
