Absorption refrigeration and jet pumps2006
Unlike vapour compression refrigeration machines, which are driven entirely by mechanical work, both absorption and jet pump refrigeration cycles are driven by a combination of work and heat. The necessary work input to these machines, however, is used to compress the working fluid in its liquid state and because of this it normally a small fraction of the total. Both absorption and jet pump refrigerators are therefore sometimes referred to as heat-powered-cycles.
