Replacing R22 in air conditioning systems (ACHPI5)

This Bulletin aims to give some guidance on possible ways of managing the replacement of R22 in air conditioning systems. It looks at three different approaches: 

• Replace the whole installation with a new system.
• Replace the refrigerant within the system with a different more easily available refrigerant.
• Re-use the existing pipe work (and possibly wiring) and install new indoor and outdoor units that operate on an alternate HFC refrigerant.
